Abstract

This round table will bring together scholars of different periods and subjects to discuss the importance of 'remembering chivalry' in scholarship. Discussion will consider the place of chivalry in contemporary military, social, and cultural historiography, fruitful future approaches to an interdisciplinary study of chivalry, and how scholars can use their research to engage with, and challenge, the predominantly 'anti-chivalric' narrative trend in popular medievalism.

Participants include Matthew Bennett (University of Winchester), Kelly DeVries (Loyola University Maryland), Michael Livingston (The Citadel, Military College of South Carolina), and Karen Watts (University of Leeds / Musée du Louvre, Paris).
