Abstract

This session is organized by two church historians and members of a research group focussed on the study of the potent and discursive nature of medieval religious knowledge, with special attention to the transfer and transformation of the subject matter. In the papers four different perspectives on the relation of bodily materiality and immateriality will be presented ranging from theological considerations, to medieval literature. The main question that is discussed is what strategies of argumentation and narration are used to materialize or de-materialize the body.
