Abstract

As researchers discover new (and study in greater depth known) material on the internal workings of this large international Order, comparisons outside the monastery help to clarify what is unique to Cistercians and what is not. In this session the presenters will attempt to define what is meant by 'Cistercian' in three different aspects of the question.
