Abstract

In celebration of the 850th anniversary of the death of St Thomas of Becket, in this panel, the Norse Hagiography Network aims to highlight the presence of the cult of Thomas Becket in Iceland and Scandinavia in the Middle Ages. Our first presenter will discuss the evidence of a cult in Denmark. Our second presenter will discuss how the translation into Old Icelandic of the life of Thomas of Becket influenced the writing of other Icelandic saints' lives. Our last presenter will highlight the cult of Thomas Becket in Iceland.
