Abstract

This session looks at the role of climate and its interplay with our own mortality. Firstly, it looks at the depictions of the world in Beatus miniatures and how these depictions subverted nature and illustrated cosmic upheaval. After this look at how people were choosing to depict the end of time, we move to examine the very real threats that signalled a potential end of time such as plague and land abandonment.
