Abstract

This panel will examine the memory of medieval war in the post-medieval period, discussing how later writers chose to remember war and, in some cases, utilised the memory for a current political purpose. The first paper discusses how medieval warfare in Aberdeen was remembered in the 17th century. The second paper looks at Shakespeare's memory of Henry V, and how this was utilised during times of military difficulty. The final paper focuses on the Welsh wars of conflict and how they were remembered by later writers.
