Abstract

The session introduces a new interdisciplinary research group embedded in the Collaborative Research Centre 1391 'Different Aesthetics'. Dealing with the aesthetic potential of personifications and their actions in literature and visual art, the papers explore how the authors' and artists' reflections on representation and artistic elaboration become visible in personifications. Middle High German literary texts and visual representations from the High to Late Middle Ages will be in the focus of the session, which aims at contributing to an interdisciplinary perspective on personification.
