Abstract

How can we represent the messiness of historical interpretation - uncertainty, gaps in knowledge, or even legitimate differences of opinion among contemporary observers or modern scholars - when we render information about the medieval era into digital data? This session, arising from work done in the framework of the ERC-funded project RELEVEN (Re-Evaluating the 11th Century through Linked Events and Entities), will present the details of our data model and two case studies of its use, from the fields of archaeology and prosopography respectively.
