| Abstract | This panel is devoted to emotions portrayed by supernatural concepts and deities in Medieval Irish and Old Norse literature, in order to cast a light on these oft-marginalised figures. Runge's paper examines four figures of Medieval Irish literature that undergo human and animal transformations and how they are reflected in their emotions. Lummer's paper is a lexical examination of the emotional inventory of Old Norse supernatural concepts in the fornaldarsögur. Manning's paper discusses godly anger in the Íslendingasögur, specifically investigating characters who are subjected to this rage and noting the manifestations of it in ecological events as well as dreams. |
