Abstract

The second of the sessions on the materiality of manuscripts is devoted to applications of new technologies in manuscript studies. Pinche and Clérice displays the possibilities of artificial colorization of microfilms by application of a data model trained on 18,788 colour images from Gallica and the Mandragore. Peratello presents the results of multispectral analysis of material features of Codex Runicus (Copenhagen, Den Arnamagnæanske Samling, AM 28 8vo), a legal manuscript from 14th-century Denmark written entirely in medieval dotted runes. Westerby explores of the concept of 'remanifesting' in data-driven storytelling by using an example of a group of miniatures from a medieval choir book.
