Abstract

The Lincoln Record Society is a registered charity which was founded in 1910 with the objective of the advancement of public education in the history of the ancient diocese of Lincoln, especially by the transcription, editing and publication of original historical documents. This session shares insights derived from previous work on editions of episcopal registers and more recent work on the memoranda volume of Bishop John Buckingham's register, with a particular focus on Buckingham's role as pastor and on a collection of fascinating wills from 14th-century elites.
