| Abstract | Cistercian abbeys were not immune to nefarious acts, the need to pacify enemies on both sides of a dispute, or attempts to bring warring parties together for the common good. Three examples of these all-too-human problems involving Cistercians in Italy, Wales and France will be presented in greater detail in this session. |
