Abstract

This session explores new methodologies for approaching the study of trans themes in medieval literatures. Papers in this session engage in dialogue between medieval studies and critical theory, and draw on medievalisms in contemporary discourses on gender and sexuality. It ultimately advances new perspectives on conducting research into medieval transgender representations and demonstrates the productive utility of the Middle Ages to conversations around transness in modern societies.
