| Abstract | The Mystical Theology Network has organised four sessions on the theme of “Mystics and Time”. In this second session the focus will be on Liturgical Time. The first paper will analyse the impact of time and space on the mode and content of revelations described within the Visiones cuiusdam virginis. The second paper will explore some of the key themes in the latter text (printed in Antwerp in 1543), such as the soul as sacred space, the mystical core of liturgical feasts, and the connection between personal experience and liturgical praxis. The third paper will argue that the way in witnessing the Passion pushes the devotee beyond temporal constraints as draws them into a contemplative encounter. It will draw particularly on Hugh of St Victor's thinking on meditation. |
