Abstract

This session considers concepts of time in the late medieval England, from the development of the mechanical clock and the ‘time revolution’ in fourteenth century, the politics of shifting chronologies in relation to the notorious demises of a number of kings and aristocrats, and the temporal evolution of the Tower of London’s long term reputation as a place to intimidate, censure, and punish during this period.
