Getting around Leeds
Find information on how to get around Leeds during your time at the International Medieval Congress.
Bus
Leeds has an extensive network of local buses, with routes across the city and West Yorkshire. Tickets can be purchased from the driver in cash, while many buses also accept contactless card payments.
Frequent services run from Leeds Bus and Coach Station (X84, 27, 29, 6 or 8) and Leeds Rail Station (1 or 1B) to the University of Leeds campus.
Additional services (27, 8, 29, 6) to the University can be picked up from Albion Street (stop J3), which is a 15 minute walk uphill from the station and a 10 minute walk from the Bus and Coach Station.

Walking
The Leeds Rail Station, Bus and Coach Station, and all IMC accommodation are within walking distance of the University campus. Use Google Maps to plan and print a walking route to campus.
Cycling
The University has designated cycle parking where you can secure your bicycle. You will need to bring a bike chain or lock. Find out more about cycling on campus at the University of Leeds Sustainability website
Taxis
Two types of taxi operate in Leeds, black-and-white taxis and private hire cars. Taxis ranks are located at:
- the main exit of Leeds Rail Station
- the Dyer Street exit of Leeds Bus and Coach Station
- outside The Light shopping centre
- outside the Parkinson Building on campus.
Staff at the Information and Payments Desk can also provide contact details for Arrow Cars and City Cabs, the University’s recommended taxi operators. A taxi from campus to the Bus and Coach Station can range from £6-12 depending on the day and time.
