With Peter Barnard and the No Lazy Dancing Dance Band
Join caller Peter Barnard and the No Lazy Dancing Dance Band for an evening of traditional music and dance from the Yorkshire Dales.
In 2020, musician and researcher Bob Ellis published There was None of this Lazy Dancing!, in which he set out the collected tunes, dances, and accounts from the Yorkshire Dales. Building on his research, Peter is working to realise the dances described in Bob’s book and other accounts and bring these dances back to the towns and villages of the Dales. The No Lazy Dancing Dance Band is a traditional folk music group, particularly active in the Yorkshire Dales, focused on reviving and performing local social dances.
No dancing experience is necessary: each dance will be explained and walked through before the band starts playing. So please join us for a night of traditional dancing.
