A panel event with Peter Konieczny, Thomas Smith, and Steve Tibble.

We all know (or think we know) how to communicate with an academic audience. But many medieval academics also want to take their work to a far wider market and there has never been a better time to do so. Public interest in the medieval world is greater than ever, propelled by historically themed video games, podcasts, TV, online content, popular books, and film. But how do we change our writing style for this vast new audience? And, even if we do that, how do we reach them?

Peter Konieczny of Medievalists.net and Yale authors Thomas Smith (The Fifth Crusade, publishing in July) and Steve Tibble (Assassins and Templars, out now) give practical tips about how best to exploit this burgeoning world of new, accessible media, how to write for non-academic audiences, how to use social media and the internet to best effect, and how to develop a media profile.

The talk will be livestreamed on Medievalists.net Instagram and will be followed by a drinks reception where copies of both authors' books will be available at a discounted price.
